DNR releases Notice to Bidders on a Hardin County project

The Iowa Department of Natural Resources today released a notice to bidders concerning new construction announcements.

One of the projects is Phase 1 of the Steamboat Rock Dam Mitigation plan.

This project consists of removing the existing dam on the Iowa River at Steamboat Rock and replacing it with a series of stone structures.

Also included is riverbank shaping, riverbank stabilization, the construction of a granular boat carry-down ramp, tributary step-down structures, a granular foot path, and site restoration.

The dam removed shall be staged to allow for a controlled release of sediment.

The proposed guarantee from the DNR is 75-thousand dollars, and bids must be submitted by 11am on July 24th.  The projected completion date is December 31st, 2028.
