The Hampton-Dumont-CAL softball team fell 9-6 at home to Humboldt Wednesday. Trailing 7-2 after five innings, the Bulldogs mounted a response by scoring three in the sixth and one in the seventh, though the final out was recorded before more runs could be scored. Addison Aalbers, Maren Subbert and Aliyah Swieter each had two hits.
Head Coach Kelsey Enslin on bouncing back from errors; the Bulldogs committed four in the game.
“I think part of it is just learning,” Enslin says. “We talk about how every play matters, every at-bat you have matters. One error gives somebody else another chance to hit. So just really playing in the moment and making plays when you have a chance to make them.”
After finishing a suspended game with Iowa Falls-Alden Thursday at 11:00 a.m., the Bulldogs will play a doubleheader Monday at Algona.
In other Thursday action, the Bulldog baseball team will play at Boone in a preview of a first round playoff game. It’ll start at 12:00 p.m.
