The Franklin County Board of Supervisors Monday approved a resolution ordering construction of the courthouse roof.

The roof received wind and hail damage earlier this year.

Doug Foreshoe, with the Bergland & Cram Architectural firm, presented the board with the proposed plans to replace the roof.

Foreshoe told the supervisors how important it is to have a 10 percent contingency fund available.

“That’d be 13,486 to 18,795. Just because you have an 1890s building and there’s going to be blocking and things underneath and sheeting and stuff that might not be ideal. And if we find some of those things in the bid for we actually have a general contractors have to provide their price for that upfront. So if they find wood blocking, here’s your four foot price. for a linear foot of that, piece of sheeting, here’s your price for that to replace it. So when we get to the point of finding it, it’s, I think I’m going to charge this today. No, we have it already locked in. You can’t change the price on it.”

Foreshoe provided a price range on what the work could cost.

“148,346 to 206,740.”

Bids are due by July 29th, and the Franklin County Board of Supervisors will consider the bids on August 4th.
