
The AGWSR baseball team fell behind early and were denied from recovering in a 10-0 loss in five innings at Wapsie Valley in Class 1A District 4 semifinal on Tuesday, as aired on 104.9 KLMJ.
After a scoreless first, Wapsie Valley scored in every remaining inning with three in the second, four in the third, two in the fourth and one run in the fifth to end the game early by the run margin rule. The Cougars only had three hits and stranded three base runners in the game. Head Coach Justin Kerns on what challenged the Cougars and returners.
“We knew we were going to have to play a perfect baseball to stick with these guys and unfortunately we didn’t do that. We left our pitchers out there a little too long. We didn’t make the plays behind them when they were there all the time. As far as the bats go, we just didn’t get any runs in when we had guys in scoring position,” says Kerns. “A great group of kids. Looking forward to the future for this group of guys. We graduate one senior you know these guys will be around for a long time.”
The Cougars used five different pitchers in the game to help navigate the Warriors high powered offense.
AGWSR concluded their season at 6-20.
