The #2 (1A) Clarksville softball team advanced in postseason play by defeating Saint Ansgar 4-1 at home Wednesday in a 1A Region 2 quarterfinal. They built a 3-0 lead in the first two innings and gave up their only run against in the fourth. Sydney Lovrien and Emmalee Manwarren each had two RBIs. They’ll host Janesville in Friday’s regional semifinal.
In a 2A Region 7 quarterfinal, North Butler defeated South Winneshiek 5-1 at home. They scored all their runs in the fourth and fifth innings after giving up the lone run to their opponent in the first. Kamri Groen recorded seven strikeouts. They’ll play at #10 (2A) Beckman Catholic in Friday’s regional semifinal.
Dike-New Hartford surged past Woodward-Granger 11-4 at home in a 2A Region 4 quarterfinal. In a thorough performance, they scored in all but the first and fourth innings to gain separation. They’ve advanced to Friday’s regional semifinal at #4 (2A) Osage.
