The North Butler softball team had a late inning rally cut short falling 5-4 at #10 (2A) Beckman Catholic in a Class 2A Region 7 semifinal on Saturday in Dyersville.
Beckman pulled out to a 2-0 lead in the first inning. The Bearcats made it a one run game in the third. The Trailblazers extended their lead to 4-1 by scoring a pair in the bottom of the inning. The Bearcats plated a run in the fifth to cut the score to 4-2. The Trailblazers added an insurance run in the sixth to go up 5-2. The rally was on in the seventh, as the Bearcats brought home two runs to trim their deficit to 5-4, but were denied from driving in the equalizer.
Kamri Groen in the circle allowed four runs with four strikeouts in six innings. Groen also delivered three RBIs to lead the Bearcat bats.
North Butler ends their season at 16-13.
