Hampton’s Wood Cellar is celebrating its 35th anniversary this week.
Guyla Pohlman owns the shop located along 1st Street NW, and, along with her husband Howard, opened the business at their current location in November of 1990.
“My husband and I used to do craft shows and people would always ask if we had a store and one came up in Hampton. So we bought it and we fixed it up and we started putting stuff in it then. What we’ve seen a lot when I first opened a lot of the colors we are now seeing again, it has like switched around. We have switched colors so many times and now those first colors when we (first) opened up are coming back; the light blues, the light greens, mauves, a lot of the styles we’re just repeating again (as) I’ve been here so long.”
Pohlman has another full-time employee Amy Perez, who has worked there since 1998. There are currently three part-time employees who help during weekends.
The Wood Cellar is celebrating its anniversary Thursday through Saturday with specials, sampling of foods, giveaways and prize drawings. Brickyard Wines, LLC of Clermont will be at the Wood Cellar Thursday from 12:00 to 3:00 p.m.
Pohlman says they will celebrate this milestone more later in the year. You can find more information about the Wood Cellar and their 35th anniversary on their Facebook page.
