The Iowa Economic Development Authority Board today awarded a Community Attraction and Tourism grant of 1-million dollars to Hardin County to pave 9 miles of the Iowa River’s Edge Trail to connect Eldora and Union.

When completed, the trail will create a 32-mile corridor along the Iowa River.  It will connect rural communities in two counties, Hardin and Marshall, supporting economic growth in smaller communities.

The total project cost is nearly 6-point-2-million dollars.

Also today, the IEDA board, through the Redevelopment Tax Credit Program, reinstated an award that will help to pay for a new hotel in downtown Mason City, which will be part of the River City Renaissance Project.
