This week, the Sheffield City Council received information on a meeting held between the WHKS engineering firm and the fire station committee.
The discussion on the building was that it is to be a fire station and will not have a community center on it at this time. Rough estimate on the engineering fees could be 30 to 50-thousand dollars, with the rural fire area helping to split the costs to get engineering moving forward.
However, the Sheffield council was not ready to move forward with the engineering. Council members would like to invite residents to talk about if a new fire station is wanted and for the fire department to bring a solid plan on where the funds would be coming from.
This will be brought back in October for more discussion.
