Monday, the Hampton City Council received an update on parking in the 500 block of 1st Street SE and other issues in that area. Hampton Police Chief Mark Morrison and Public Works Director Doug Tarr informed the council that items in the right-of-way have been moved and they recently met with property owners in the area. Tarr also suggested that the council consider adding no parking on both sides of the road in the future.
In other business, Hampton City Manager Ron Dunt provided an updated cost estimate for the fence at the skatepark. The new estimate is $8,376.63 for 112 feet, which includes two curved sides for each end. After discussion, the consensus of the council was to include it on Thursday’s regular meeting agenda.
Dunt also presented the council a resolution of public purpose options. The resolution documents the public purposes for spending city funds on certain things such as employee recognition items and snacks for meetings. The consensus of the council was to move forward with the resolution as it was.
