The AGWSR baseball team took a positive step in postseason play this season, winning their first playoff game since 2020. They defeated North Butler 4-2 in a neutral site game at Wapsie Valley in a district quarterfinal. That night, Clay Buseman pitched the complete game with four strikeouts and three walks.
Kerns says while the regular season record wasn’t strong, playing nearly exclusively Class 2A teams as a 1A team always sets them up to perform well in postseason play.
The team advanced to take on Wapsie Valley, and fell 10-0. The season ended at 6-20.
