Dike-New Hartford senior Carson Costello was recently named the NICL-Central Player of the Year. A pitcher and center fielder, Costello was dominant on the mound with a 1.10 ERA, recording 66 strikeouts and 12 walks in 38.1 innings. Head Coach Jordan Martin on the honor.

“He’s been our guy the last three years,” Martin says. “This is his second year winning the NICL-Central Conference Player of the Year. So just a tremendous success for him and just so happy for him that he’s able to have the success that he did in his career at DNH. I think he’ll continue to have that success at Kirkwood next year. But yeah, definitely going to miss him. It’s been a great four years coaching him, and just have the utmost respect for him and the way he is as a person.”

Possibly the greatest accomplishment of his baseball career happened June 6 at Hudson, where he threw a perfect game with 11 strikeouts.

“We had so many great memories that I’m just never going to forget this year. I’d say the top memory that I’m going to have from this year is Carson Costello throwing a perfect game at Hudson. The command and dominance that he showed in that game, I’ve just never seen before. He’s thrown really good games, but that game, no one could touch him.”

Offensively, he batted .326 with 24 RBIs, the second-most on the team.

DNH went 21-5 and 11-1 in the NICL-Central to earn the conference title.
