Severe storms rolled through the broadcast area late Monday night into Tuesday morning.

Wind gusts of around 60 miles per hour were reported in Franklin, Butler, Wright and Hardin counties. A wind gust of 59 miles per hour was reported three miles north of Allison just before 1:00 a.m. Tuesday.

The storms left thousands of customers without power in Butler County Tuesday. Butler County Emergency Management Coordinator, Chris Showalter, tells RadioOnTheGo News that “there was a tree that fell on a main transmission line just south of Shell Rock early Tuesday morning that affected that area, along with Parkersburg and New Hartford.” He also stated that Shell Rock had several trees and power lines down.

MidAmerican Energy Vice President of Corporate Communications, Tina Hoffman, tells RadioOnTheGo News that most customers in Aplington, Parkersburg, New Hartford, Stout and Shell Rock should have their power restored by 4 p.m. Tuesday.
