The 5th annual Rally for Rural Voices will be Saturday at the Iowa Falls Community Theater.

The event is sponsored by the Hardin County Democratic Party and Indivisible Central Iowa. Lisa Lawler is a member of the Hardin County Democratic Party and helped jumpstart this event in 2021.

“The event was my brainchild. I thought that there are plenty of people in Hardin County who are not happy with the current state of the federal government or state government. And so I thought I’d provide an event for those people to come and just air out grievances or listen to what others have for a vision for Iowa, for a vision for local government, and also federal gets wrapped in there as well.”

There will be several guest speakers including Nathan Sage, candidate for US Senate, Leila Staton, candidate for Iowa House, and Iowa Starting Line Correspondent Liz Fleming. Lawler says the event is open to anyone who would like to see rural Iowa become a better place to live.

“I hope that people are heard and also there’s some action that can be taken. We have information tables that will be available for voter registration and ways to be more active in your communities and also to provide a place where like-minded people can get together and solve problems that we have for everyday Iowans and everyday Hardin County citizens. But we also want to include the independent no party voters and any Republicans that are frustrated with what is going on today as well. Everybody is welcome to join in and find out what our visions for Iowa and for Hardin County are.”

The 5th annual Rally for Rural Voices will be Saturday at the Iowa Falls Community Theater from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. A meal will be provided. You can RSVP to HCDPIA@gmail.com.
