Parkersburg’s “Rock the Block” Fun Days are this weekend.

Friday’s activities include a community clean up from noon to 5:00 p.m. and a kick it to the curb event, a chance for residents to get rid of gently used items.

“Yeah, we’re really excited for this event, something new and different. We wanted to have it be that we work hard and then we can play hard afterwards. So the community cleanup is going to be from 12 to five on Friday. And then basically we have a few projects that we’re going to do downtown and a few places in town. We’re meeting at the building at 12 or 12:30 to get your assignments. And then there’s also the kick it to the curb that’s going on at the same time from one to four. And that is with the Habitat for Humanity, the Restore Store, which is (in) Waterloo, and they will pick up pre-approved items, so you have to go on our Facebook page and look up exactly what those things are or the Restore page, the Habitat for Humanity page to find out what items you can donate to their store, which it’s a really great event too.”

That’s Tasha Kramer with the Parkersburg Fun Days Committee. The citizen of the year will be awarded and the crowning of little Miss and Mr. will be held at 6:30 p.m. Friday before live music from Barnobis Connection at 8:00 p.m. in downtown Parkersburg.

An all-day fishing derby will kick off Saturday’s events. The fun days parade will start at 10:30 a.m. followed by a tractor pull at 11:00 near Kannegieter Seeds. Live entertainment with Magic Moments and a photo contest will be held from noon to 4:00 p.m. Saturday. Saturday’s events conclude with live music from the Not Quite Brothers at 8:00 p.m.

RadioOnTheGo will broadcast live from Parkersburg Fun Days Friday from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. on 99 The Wave. You can follow the Parkersburg Fun Days Facebook page here
