The South Hardin baseball team with their third double digit win season in a row, continued their climb as an NICL-West contender and tough out in the postseason. The Tigers went 19-9 overall and went 8-4 in the NICL-West, for a second place finish. Head Coach Nathan Weig on the growing support from Tigers fans and what it meant to the players.

“Great following, definitely people I think are starting to buy into the South Hardin baseball program, a little bit more than maybe in years past. We definitely feel that at home games, youth are around and there’s a lot more fans then there used to be there,” says Weig. “Definitely some good support overall and the boys feel it, which is great. It makes them excited every night when they go out there and take the field.”

The Tigers are projected to return 20 players next season. Among returners are NICL-West all-conference honorees Josh Spindler, Peyton Welch, Preston Dolash and Bo Carpenter. Also projected to return is team RBI leader Garrett Anderson with 17 RBIs. Weig on areas of offseason work needed to extend their finish line in 2026.

“It’s going to take a little bit more buy-in this offseason, not that we didn’t have it last year, but how do we take that next step? How do we compete with those teams that are fighting in the state tournament, like we want to be? I think that’ll be putting our nose down and working hard this offseason. I think we’ll be ready to go next year. I’m really excited. We will do a long toss program. We will start throwing here in another month. I think we’ll get a pretty good turnout for that. I think the guys are pretty excited to get back into that. Then just like the state allows, come January, we’ll be throwing once a week. Then once we can start hitting, we’ll start ramping that up. Looking forward to a great 2026 season.”

South Hardin concluded their season in a Class 2A district quarterfinal after falling to West Marshall.
