A new era of Iowa high school athletics will begin Monday, marking the first day of the calendar for the 2025-2026 school year.
After finishing last season with the state tournament on May 31, girls tennis will become a fall sport, with Monday marking the first day of practice. Teams may begin competitions on Thursday, August 7. Locally, Grundy Center will begin the season Thursday by hosting Nevada, and Dike-New Hartford will be at Webster City for a triangular Friday. All other local girls tennis teams will have their first meets next week.
All other fall sports are allowed to begin practices on Monday, August 11, with the first competitions happening later in the month.
