An Allison woman has earned a full scholarship to North Iowa Area Community College as one of two grand prize winners in NIACC’s Extreme Makeover: College Edition.
Jennifer Hoodjer was awarded full tuition, textbooks, and more for the 2025–26 academic year. Hoodjer said the win brings new life to her goal of earning an Associate’s degree in nursing — a dream she nearly gave up on. She added that the opportunity has restored her confidence and reaffirmed the message she often tells her son: never give up, even when things seem impossible.
A Hampton resident, Trish Vega, was named one of three finalists in the contest and will receive half-price tuition for the upcoming school year.
The annual contest highlights adult learners ready to take a new step in their education. NIACC fall classes begin August 25, and there’s still time to register. More information is available at www.niacc.edu.
