Franklin County Supervisors Move Forward with Courthouse Roof Project

UPDATED TO INCLUDE INFORMATION ABOUT BEREAVEMENT POLICY DISCUSSION:

The Franklin County Board of Supervisors met Monday (Aug. 4), for both a special and regular session at the courthouse in Hampton.

Supervisors held a public hearing in special session prior to the regularly scheduled weekly meeting in regards to revised plans and specifications for the courthouse roof project. Following a recommendation from the project engineer, the board voted to reject all previously submitted bids and approved moving forward with updated bid documents and timelines. Bids will now be accepted until August 19th, with a public hearing and bid review scheduled for August 25th.

In other business during the regular session, Franklin County Supervisors approved the hiring of Joel McWilliams as Deputy and later appointed him Chief Deputy. They also discussed pending wind easement addendums with Alliant Energy instructing Auditor Katy Flint to work with the wind attorney in reviewing those agreements and to schedule a joint session with the Franklin County Conservation Board. Supervisors also briefly reviewed the county’s bereavement and sick leave policies and decided to keep them unchanged.
