Iowa House Speaker Pat Grassley of New Hartford is expressing confidence in Representative Bobby Kaufmann following his election as the new House Majority Leader. Grassley, who represents local constituents in Butler and Grundy counties, said Kaufmann has proven himself as a strong and effective leader during their years serving together in the legislature.
Kaufmann, a Republican from Wilton, takes over the leadership role from Representative Matt Windschitl. First elected in 2012, Kaufmann has chaired several key committees, most recently Ways and Means.
As Majority Leader, Kaufmann will help guide the 67-member Republican caucus through the remainder of the 91st General Assembly. Grassley said he looks forward to working with Kaufmann to advance the caucus’s shared goals and continue pushing forward policies that benefit Iowa families, the economy, and the state’s long-term future.
The leadership change takes effect immediately.
