Bridge Work Underway on Franklin Ave. at Butler-Franklin Line

A portion of Franklin Avenue at the Butler and Franklin County line is now closed for a bridge replacement project. According to Butler County Engineer John Riherd, the closure affects the stretch just south of Franklin County 70th Street; or 290th Street in Butler County.

County crews began construction Monday and expect the project to take 7 to 8 weeks. A second bridge to the south may also be replaced later this fall, depending on conditions. Riherd says that project could begin in three to four weeks, but no firm schedule has been set yet.

While local traffic will be maintained where possible, through traffic will need to use alternate routes during the construction period. For updates on this or other Butler County road projects, the public is encouraged to contact the Butler County Engineer’s Office at (319) 346-6558.
