North Butler Baseball Strengthened their Pitching Staff this Season

The North Butler baseball team developed depth on the pitching staff, using 10 different pitchers, four of whom worked in eight or more games. Head Coach Chase Stohr.

“Going into the season, we graduated a few of our pitchers. We were hoping some kids would step up for us that were a little younger and they definitely did that,” says Stohr. “Bryce Schroeder came in, threw a lot for us and he did really well. He was basically a spot pitcher for us at different times. He got a few starts throughout the season as well for us this year. Wrigley Endelman, pounds the zone. Hopefully he gets a little bit more velocity over the next offseason. He does what we want him to. The other teams are gonna put the ball in play and our defense just has to make plays behind him. Brody is a phenomenal pitcher for us. Anytime he’s on the mound, we feel like we have a high probability of winning or just playing really well that night.”

The Bearcats had a team ERA of 4.83. Brody Wangsness was the ace of the staff with a 0.88 ERA and 87 strikeouts in eight appearances. Wrigley Endelman had a 3.59 ERA and 16 strikeouts in eight appearances. Bryce Schroeder worked a bulk of his innings in relief and recorded 21 strikeouts in eight appearances. The Bearcats, after graduating four seniors, are projected to return 15 players. Stohr’s advice to multi-sport members of the team to continue progress this offseason.

“They have got to find time in the weekends. I know that’s where lot of fall ball and spring ball things take place. Even if they’re not willing to commit to something like fall ball or spring league, find cages. In nearby Greene, we have a little bit of a place that’s available to the North Butler baseball and softball teams, like an indoor cage. I just really encourage the boys to get more people there and bring people with them, so they can get more cuts in the offseason.”

North Butler concluded their season at 7-13.
