If you travel to Waterloo for work, shopping, or appointments—heads up. A major road closure could impact your usual route starting next week.
The Iowa DOT says northbound U.S. 218 will close at Exit 181B on Thursday, August 7, for bridge repairs over U.S. 63. The closure is expected to last through early November, weather permitting. You’ll need to follow a detour using Exit 182 at Fletcher Avenue, then loop back south on U.S. 218 to reach U.S. 63.
Message signs will be posted ahead of the closure. Drivers are reminded to slow down, stay alert in work zones, and remember that traffic fines double in these areas.
