Scattered thunderstorms are in the forecast for today across central and western Iowa, including the local area. The National Weather Service says some of those storms could become strong to severe, especially west of Interstate 35. Damaging winds are the primary concern.
Storm chances will linger into Thursday, though the threat for severe weather is lower. Gusty winds may still accompany any storms that develop.
Looking ahead, additional rounds of thunderstorms are possible over the weekend and into early next week, but forecasters say it’s too early to determine if those storms could turn severe.
While no spotter activation is expected at this time, the weather could still impact outdoor activities and travel. Stay weather-aware and check for updates throughout the day.
