Hampton-Dumont-CAL alum and Iowa Western Community College football player Scott Harr is weeks away from entering his second collegiate season with the Reivers. In his first season, Iowa Western went 11-2 and reached the NJCAA Division I National Championship game, falling to Hutchinson Community College. Entering the game, the Reivers had won back to back national titles in 2022 and 2023.

“We’re definitely one of the top programs in JUCO for sure. I think the coaching staff does a great job of finding what they want and getting people to execute their things. They’re really good at bringing the team together from all different parts and all different backgrounds,” says Harr. “Getting here, it’s a whole different game than high school. I think I definitely got better as the season went along. We ended up losing the national championship but I think it was still a pretty successful season. I think I came a long way as a football player.”

The Reivers had a star studded receiving core of eight receivers and three tight ends that racked up 3,925 yards and 34 touchdowns. Due to receiving depth, Harr in year one played in two games at tight end and helped out his team most often on special teams. Harr on what he learned from his teammates.

“There’s some pretty talented guys in our tight end room. They showed me little things that I can use with my technique and stuff to better myself. Then they showed me, how they get down all the plays and all of our assignments and stuff. They were really helpful with that stuff. It was definitely a learning year for me. I think I learned a lot. I think I picked up a lot of stuff from those older guys, that I can use for myself this season. Last year I played a lot of special teams. I’m just willing to help the team out in any way I can. Whatever my role is, I’m just going to try and do it to the best of my ability.”

Harr on how training for the upcoming season is going.

“Fall camp is going on right now. It’s definitely been a grind, but I think it’s been good. Very challenging, but I think that just makes everything a little bit easier for game day. Talent is great. We’re going against some of the best there is in junior college on a day-to-day basis. I’m definitely excited to get this season up and rolling. Excited to see where my journey takes me in the next couple months. I’m going to go along with it and do the best I can, whatever I do.”

Harr is majoring in business and will graduate in December.

Iowa Western will kickoff their 2025 season by hosting Georgia Military College on Saturday, August 30.
