Riah Schrage of Grundy County was crowned the 2025 Iowa State Fair Queen Saturday night during the coronation in Des Moines. Out of 102 contestants from across the state, Riah was chosen to represent Iowa for the next year.
A senior at Grundy Center High School, Riah is the daughter of Landon and Cassie Schrage. She received a $3,000 scholarship along with a crown, sash, trophy, and additional awards for her new role. RadioOnTheGo News caught up with Riah earlier this summer at the Grundy County Fair, and she told us about her active background that led to her being crowned.
“I was in 4H for four years, and then I took a little pause on that, and I started doing the Bill Riley talent competition. So I’ve been doing that for the last few years, and it’s been so much fun doing projects. I actually had a project I was able to go to the state fair and get blue when I was younger, so that was a whole bunch of fun. And then with the Bill Riley, I was able to make semifinalists one of the year. So a whole lot of fun that goes into the fair and the state fair and all the things like that. And then with FFA, I just joined last year, and I was able to get first place at the state talent competition. And then I got voted as our FFA reporter this year, which has been a really fun opportunity for me. Like I said before, I love marketing, love photography, all that kind of stuff. So this is something that I can just do to use my passions.”
As State Fair Queen, Riah will represent the Fair at events throughout the year, highlighting Iowa’s agricultural heritage and community spirit. Our congratulations to 2025 Iowa State Fair Queen, Riah Schrage from Grundy County.
