Summer is in full swing and that means lots of watermelon, and sweet corn! I have seen many charts about picking watermelons based on looks. If its more round, the watermelon tends to be more sweet. While the oblong melons are more watery. Is it weird I prefer the watery watermelon? It’s super juicy, more firm, and doesn’t get mushy as quickly.
When it comes to corn, there is no way of knowing what’s on the inside until you peel it and check out them kernels. There are many ways of preparing corn on the cobb, from grilling to boiling and more. While I pose a question that has me asking friends and family, how do you eat your corn on the cob? Do you take your bits around the cob, or across?
The across method is how cartoon characters would eat corn on the cob while typewriter sound effects played. While I tried this method when little, I found myself obsessing with the lines across being perfect. Now, I just enjoy eating around the cob. Big huge juicy bites of corn every time. So far, myself, my mom, and my friend all eat around. My dad, husband, 2 friends say they eat across. One coworker, Duane Carstens, uses both as a systematic attack on the corn kernels, first eating around the ends then eating the cob from side to side. Lol. So, how do you eat corn on the cobb?
