The City of Hampton is reminding pet owners about the importance of responsible pet ownership and public safety. Police Chief Mark Morrison says dog owners with pets over six months old are required to obtain an annual dog license at City Hall. To get a license, owners must provide a veterinarian’s certificate showing current rabies vaccination. The annual fee is $8 per animal, or $5 for neutered pets.
When licensed, owners will receive a numbered metal tag to attach to their dog’s collar, along with vaccination tags. It is the owner’s responsibility to renew the license each year.
