The Hampton City Council held a workshop Monday (Aug. 11) night, reviewing several upcoming items for Thursday’s (Aug. 14) regular meeting. Matt Stoffel of PFM presented bank bids for a $700,000 general obligation loan note. The lowest bid came from First Bank Hampton at 5.3513 percent interest.
Jennifer Burnham of La Luz Centro Cultural read a request to close a portion of 2nd Avenue NE on August 15 for the group’s Back to School event. Amanda Fender sought traffic control for the Hampton-Dumont Class of 2004 Scholarship Fund 5K on October 4 and updated the council on Hampton Youth Soccer participation and field space challenges. Fender told the Council that this year the K-3rd grade field had to be moved due to parking and space constraints. City Manager Ron Dunt says he is aware of the issue and has been continuing to find appropriate solutions.
Hampton City Council members also discussed ways to boost pet registrations, while Police Chief Mark Morrison reported on nuisance properties, noting a required 20-day waiting period before court notices. The Hampton City Council will meet in regular session on Thursday (Aug. 14).
