
An Iowa Falls man has been arrested following an alleged assault Monday (Aug. 11) afternoon. According to Iowa Falls Police, 39-year-old Derek Chaplin is accused of placing his hands around another person’s throat and pushing them into a railing during an altercation. Officers say the incident was captured on video surveillance, and Chaplin later admitted to the actions.
He was taken into custody and charged with simple misdemeanor assault. Police say a no-contact order was requested in connection with the case. Chaplin was booked into the Hardin County Jail but has since been released. The incident remains under investigation by the Iowa Falls Police Department.
