Rockwell’s Lundt participated in Iowa Governor’s Charity Steer Show

13-year-old Tate Lundt of Rockwell, a member of the West Fork Winners 4H club, participated in Saturday’s Iowa Governor’s Charity Steer Show at the Iowa State Fair. Lundt’s steer, Pablo, was shown by JayJay Goodvin, the Chief Explorer of the Iowa Gallivant. His sponsors were the Foster and Evelyn Barkema Charitable Trust and Friends of Franklin County Cattlemen. Lundt on how he prepared for the show.

“They look for muscle, they look for a big calf, a lot of meat on it,” Lundt says. “I wash them a lot and walk them every day.”

Lundt didn’t receive any awards, but more than $569,000 was raised for the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Iowa, the fifth straight year a record amount of fundraising was received. Funds were raised through online donations, sponsorships, and an auction of steers after the show.

The Iowa Governor’s Charity Steer Show has been held since 1983 and has since raised nearly $6 million for the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Iowa.
