
The Dike-New Hartford girls tennis team went 2-0 Tuesday at a double dual hosted by Columbus Catholic. They defeated Aplington-Parkersburg 9-0 and Grundy Center 8-1. The Falcons and Spartans each fell to the Sailors by 8-1 scores, rounding out local action.
In the AP/DNH dual, Abrielle Pokorny won a super tiebreaker 10-6 at #5 singles. At #3 doubles, Pokorny/Tareya Johnson won a 10-7 super tiebreaker. Another DNH highlight was a 6-0, 6-0 sweep by Haley Badker at #4 singles.
AP had their lone win of the day against Columbus, where Jayden Krausman won 6-2, 6-1 at #1 singles.
Against Grundy Center, Badker won another 6-0, 6-0 clean sweep at #4 singles. Addy Joslin at #1 singles and Johnson at #6 singles each only dropped one game. Grundy Center’s Kaydence Kuiper/Madison Mayo at #3 doubles earned the team’s only wins, going 2-0 against Dike-New Hartford and Columbus.
