Two projects are taking place to upgrade facilities at the West Fork Football Complex. The first project, headed by the football coaching staff, is a renovation of the home press box. West Fork Activities Director Tyler Borchardt details the project and its current stage.

“We are putting in all new walls and countertops. We are trying to make that a first class facility, especially when visiting teams come in and even for our coaches to have as well. That is just getting wrapped up. We’re about a week out from getting that done,” says Borchardt. “We’re always looking to improve things here. It’s awesome to see the growth that’s happened during my time here.”

The second project will be the addition of a six-lane competition track. The project is in the fundraising and preparation phase, with help being provided by the West Fork Athletic Boosters.

“We are hoping to have construction started with that this spring. Then hopefully in the 26-27 school year, being able to compete on that as well. Our booster club’s frontlining that project. It’s been something I think that is a long time coming. I think that’s part of that success, is when you’re able to have the facilities, those first class facilities. I think that does translate to your teams, whether it’s performance, to also that pride with the community as well. That’s something we’re really excited to get the ball rolling. That’s an exciting facility upgrade that hopefully by the 26-27 season we can bring to the community and be able to host a track meet here, for the first time in a long time.”

West Fork’s first event at the updated complex will be Warhawk football’s season opener against North Butler on Friday, August 29.
