Midland Power Donates to Hampton Senior Center

Hampton Senior Center staff and volunteers accept a donation from Midland Power Coop. Also in attendance were officials from the Chamber/Main Street Program.

Correction: This story has been updated to note that the donation is part of the Shine the Light program and to highlight Marilyn Jurgena’s volunteer contributions. Thanks to Sue Rowan for sharing information on Marilyn Jurgena’s volunteer work.

New information has been shared with us about a story we brought you earlier this week.

The Hampton Senior Center received a $625 donation Wednesday as part of Touchstone Energy’s Shine the Light program, recognizing local volunteer Marilyn Jurgena. Jurgena, nominated by fellow volunteers at the Senior Center, has dedicated decades to supporting seniors in Hampton through her work with the Center, the Franklin General Hospital Auxiliary and Foundation boards, and Faith Baptist Church. She also tended the Hospital Auxiliary Gardens for nearly 20 years and currently serves as President of the Senior Center Board of Directors.

Known for her energy, warmth, and friendly smile, Jurgena has helped ensure seniors remain active, engaged, and connected. The $625 donation will support programs, meals, and daily activities at the Senior Center, keeping it a welcoming “second home” for local residents.

Midland Power Cooperative, which serves Franklin, Grundy, Hardin, and Wright Counties in the broadcast area, is part of Touchstone Energy and helps fund the program. The cooperative also hosts community service days and offers event sponsorships to support worthwhile causes.
