Scott Patton has begun serving as High School Activities Director at Iowa Falls-Alden. Having served as the middle school AD for 18 years, he’s now the leader of activities for grades 7-12. Patton says his prior experiences have given him familiarity with the position.
“I’ve had some activities director experience, although not quite at the same level as what I will be handling now,” Patton says. “I was 7th through 12th grade, so familiar somewhat with a lot of the routines, procedures, very familiar with other conference ADs and surrounding ADs and working with them in the previous role that I had as middle school AD. So I’m looking forward to this, excited for the new opportunity, new adventure. I know there will be some growing pains to go with it, but that’s part of anything new. So it’ll be fun.”
In addition to his expanded activities director responsibilities, he’ll continue his roles as a PE/health teacher, head boys wrestling coach and assistant football coach.
Some of the projects taking place include the addition of a new visitors locker room and wrestling room.
“The projects are going to be done the soonest here would be our new visitors locker rooms. Any visiting team that’s been here before has had to go down to the basement. It’s kind of a dungeon that we used for our visitors before. They’re actually in our old wrestling room. So that has been converted into two visitors locker rooms, as well as a new training room for our trainer that we have on staff. So that’s the first project that’s supposed to be done here about the time school starts. The next will be our new wrestling room that is being added onto the south side of our current gym. It’s be a big, big addition for us, a lot more square footage from our previous room. I believe we’ve had 10 feet of width and another 20 some feet of length to that room. So a lot of increased space there for our wrestling program.”
Other upcoming projects include a track resurfacing and a track/softball facility concession stand upgrade.
