Grassley Praises ICE Efforts; Local Arrest Tied to Immigration Hold

Remarks by Senator Chuck Grassley of Iowa “Whistleblower Appreciation Day” Wednesday, July 30, 2025

U.S. Senator Chuck Grassley, a Republican from Butler County, is applauding U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement following passage of the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, which includes historic federal funding for border security and immigration enforcement. Grassley, as chair of the Senate Judiciary Committee, helped lead the effort, saying the resources will give law enforcement the tools needed to protect communities. ICE reports the funding supports the arrest and removal of dangerous criminal illegal immigrants nationwide.

Locally, 36-year-old Martin Ferias-Diaz was arrested this week by Hampton Police for first offense Operating While Intoxicated. Franklin County Sheriff Aaron Dodd told RadioOnTheGo News that Ferias-Diaz was held on an ICE detainer and was transported to the Hardin County Jail in Eldora.
