Hampton Council Approves Infrastructure Projects, Street Closures

The Hampton City Council held its regular session Thursday evening, taking action on multiple infrastructure projects and community event requests. The Council also heard from resident Patrick O’Donnell during public comment his concerns about roofing codes.

Council members approved a change order and the final pay application of $20,856 for the airport improvement project, along with a pay estimate in the amount of $145,000 on the ongoing water treatment plant upgrades. Several resolutions were approved, including a $700,000 general obligation loan note, the construction contract for the 2025-26 street rehabilitation program, and an asbestos abatement contract for the former Rick’s Pharmacy building at 4 and 6 1st Street NW.

Community event requests were also addressed, with approvals for street closures and traffic control for La Luz Centro Cultural’s Back to School event, the Hampton Car Show on August 24, the Hampton-Dumont Class of 2004 Scholarship 5K, and the Hampton Library’s 120th birthday celebration on October 6.
