
A Hampton man was arrested early Thursday morning after crashing a vehicle and is being held on an Immigration and Customs Enforcement detainer, according to the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office.
Hampton Police Chief Mark Morrison told RadioOnTheGo News that officers responded when a blue Ford F-150 crashed into a tree in an alley in the 300 block of 3rd Avenue Northwest. The vehicle, registered to Horacio Mez of Hampton, sustained approximately $2,500 in damage.
The driver, 23-year-old Gaspar Reyes Lopez of Hampton, was charged with operating while intoxicated, second offense, and was found to have an outstanding Franklin County warrant for failing to serve time on a previous OWI first offense.
Sheriff Aaron Dodd confirmed that Lopez was transported to the Hardin County Jail in Eldora, where he is being held on bond and the ICE detainer.
