The Parkersburg City Council met on Monday, August 4.
Among the action items, they approved hiring Jordan Cobie as full-time police officer, subject to him satisfying the hiring standards of the Iowa Law Enforcement Academy. They approved the plans, specifications, form of contract, and engineer’s estimate for the West 3rd Street alley reconstruction project, and will check references prior to awarding the contract to the lowest bidder. They approved an additional $19,350 to be added to the contract amount for the Wemple Street/Lincoln Street water main reconstruction project. They also approved an agreement with Speer Financial, Inc. to act as the financial advisor for the issuance of General Obligation Bonds to finance a portion of the cost of street, water, sewer, and other projects.
At the end of the meeting, they scheduled a public hearing on the 2025 General Obligation Loan Agreement, which will be Monday, August 18 at Parkersburg City Hall.
