The 26th annual Parkersburg Show and Shine Car Show will be held this Sunday. Event coordinator Steve Brass says the show typically draws between 150 and 200 vehicles, along with 500 to 600 spectators.
“It’s been unbelievably received. Honestly, what started out from nothing has led to, you know, a 150 to 200 cars showing up for this thing and, you know, five or 600 people making their rounds, making the making through the through the crowd and taking it all in. It’s a wonderful site, all contained in the park and all easily accessible for everybody.”
Attendees can enjoy food trucks, sweet treats, and ice cream, along with music from a DJ and a silent auction. Car owners will compete for the Top 25 awards, specialty honors, and Best of Show. Visitors are encouraged to bring a canned food donation for the Northeast Iowa Food Bank. Brass tells RadioOnTheGo News that some of the most recent entries, just from the last few years have been his favorites.
“…literally hand built, taken apart. And that’s what that’s what truly makes a car show rather than someone just buying a car that was and and not not that that makes it bad, but somebody who you know took this car apart bolt by bolt and screw by screw and nut by nut and put it back together and made it something that, you know, overwhelms the rest of the crowd. You know? Last year, there was a Corvette that’s been to literally all 50 states. It won the bet it won, it won a master’s award at SEMA, which is the biggest car show in The United States. And it was probably close to a half million dollar car, and it’s sitting on the ground here in Parkersburg.”
Registration opens at 8 a.m., with awards presented at 2 p.m. Brass says the event is relaxed and welcoming, allowing participants to park with friends and enjoy the day in the shade of the park. The 26th annual Parkersburg Show and Shine Car Show is this Sunday (Aug. 18) at Miracle Park in Parkersburg, next to the swimming pool and across from the American Legion.
