In a tragic update to a story reported last week about a two-vehicle crash east of Chapin near Highway 65 and 210th Street, the Hampton man who suffered injuries from that accident has now died. Franklin County Sheriff Aaron Dodd confirmed to RadioOnTheGo News Friday that 48-year-old Jon Rieman, who was operating a Polaris UTV involved in the crash, passed away on Thursday (Aug. 14) at the University of Iowa Hospital from complications related to his injuries.
The crash occurred last Thursday (Aug. 7) afternoon when Rieman turned east onto 210th Street into the path of a 2016 Jeep Compass driven southbound by 67-year-old Michael Pettey of Rockford, with passenger 55-year-old Lisa Ketchum. Pettey and Ketchum were treated and released at the scene.
Multiple fire, EMS, and law enforcement agencies responded to the scene.
Funeral services for Jon Rieman are now pending with the Sietsema-Atkinson Funeral Home in Hampton.
