
The Aplington City Council met in regular session last week. The council approved several building permits and heard updates from multiple departments. Police Chief Matt Lind reported the need to replace computers in both patrol vehicles, which the council approved. The Council heard how Aplington Library’s summer program wrapped up with more than one thousand attendees across 30 programs. The council also approved the appointment of Eunice Schipper as the rural representative on the library board.
In other business, the swimming pool fundraising campaign continues, with more than fifteen thousand dollars in donations and pledges received toward a twenty-five-thousand-dollar matching goal. Council members also approved a proclamation recognizing “National See Tracks? Think Train Week” in September and set citywide Halloween Trick-or-Treating hours for October 31st from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.
