North Butler Activities Director Austin Guerrero has begun his fourth school year in the position. He also serves as the head coach for boys basketball and softball. Guerrero on working alongside a veteran coaching staff.
“You learn each and every year areas that you can grow. I feel like I’m a little better equipped to handle situations. You’ve about seen every situation you think you could, thrown to you at this point and you just rely on the people around you to help you out. I have a ton of helpful people here in the North Butler School District that I can lean on and ask questions to,” says Guerrero. “The positive thing about having pretty much all your coaches back, having student athletes that are returning that we work with year round is, you don’t have to lay to that foundation piece, where you’re trying to build a new culture, and a new program. That foundation and that mindset, you could say, is already laid. Now we just continue to build off of that. We have building blocks that only can take you higher and higher. We’re excited to have everybody back. We’re excited to see the students get back in the doors and get to work with them as well.”
Guerrero on recent upgrades to Bearcat facilities and future projects.
“We did get some additions. When you head over to the baseball and softball diamonds, we got some new dugouts going on. We’re always looking at changes that we can make to enhance our athletes experience within our program. That was kind of our main one from this last season. A lot of positive things going on at North Butler. We’re always just looking at, assessing all of our facilities and different needs for us. There’ll be some more changes moving forward but we’re just right now in the assessing stage of what best equips for us.”
North Butler’s first home athletic event of the new school year will be a volleyball match against Newman Catholic on Tuesday, September 2.
