
Hampton is set to host its first-ever “Cruisin’ & BBQ’n Weekend” this Friday through Sunday (Aug. 22-24), with three days of food, music, and classic cars. Events begin Friday at the Access Incorporated parking lot behind Family Dollar, where a “Kids Que” starts things off for cooks ages 12-18 and barbecue teams will be setting up with a classic car cruise will also take place that evening. 104.9 KLMJ presents the Joe Hermes Band live at the Hampton Band Shell with an 8 p.m. performance. Joe’s band brings an energetic approach to the country music style.
Saturday brings the Kansas City Barbecue Society competition, with more than $10,000 in prizes awarded. The Hampton American Legion will serve lunch at Band Shell Park from 11 to 1 on Saturday, followed by a performance from the Iowa Military Veterans Band.
The weekend wraps up Sunday with the Hampton Car Show at Band Shell Park, with more than 200 classic rides expected, plus live music from The Whitesidewalls.
