
The Clarion-Goldfield-Dows school board last week approved the district’s 2026 legislative priority issues to be submitted to the Rural School Advocates of Iowa, as adequate school resources, public school priority and operation sharing incentives.
The board approved the district’s goals and objectives program. The first reading of the policy will be held on September 11. They approved a fiscal year 2026 service and improvement facilitator agreement with the Prairie Lakes AEA. They also approved the 25-26 student handbooks.
In other business, Transportation Director Alex Rothman reported that cameras are being installed in all district buses, suburbans and vans that do not currently have them at a cost of $50,558.80.
K-8 Principal Jared Carder reported that he has formed a Behavior Ad Hoc Committee that has met a couple times to track behavior data and possible triggers.
Board Secretary Anita Frye reported that school board elections will be held Tuesday, November 4. The board has two seats in District 1, and one seat in District 3 that will be on the ballot. Nominations can be submitted to the board secretary starting Monday, August 25 through Thursday, September 18 at 5:00 p.m.
