One person is dead and several others were injured following a crash Saturday afternoon in rural Bremer County.
The Iowa State Patrol says it happened just after 1:30 p.m. at 190th Street and Piedmont Avenue, or about two miles south of Tripoli. Troopers say a 2022 Toyota Tacoma driven by 47-year-old Lal Pui Puia Sai Lo of Des Moines failed to yield at a stop sign and was struck on the driver’s side by a southbound 2018 Ford F-150 driven by 82-year-old Trivona Drewis of Waverly.
A passenger in the Tacoma, 41-year-old Lungawia Chalthleng of Urbandale, was killed. Five others, including both drivers, were taken to area hospitals, one by air ambulance.
Emergency crews from Denver, Sumner, Readlyn and Tripoli responded. The crash remains under investigation.
