Republican Congresswoman Ashley Hinson says the America First movement is no longer a rallying cry, it’s a governing agenda — but there’s a lot of work left to do to implement all of it. Hinson held her 5th annual B-B-Q Bash fundraiser this weekend in Cedar Rapids. According to our partners at Radio Iowa, Hinson told the crowd she’ll fight alongside President Donald Trump to secure the border and deport illegal aliens and she favors ending birthright citizenship for children of parents who are in the country illegally.
Four Democrats say they’ll compete for their party’s nomination in the second congressional district Hinson currently represents. Iowa’s 2nd Congressional District includes Butler, Grundy, Hardin and Cerro Gordo Counties in the broadcast area. Hinson was reelected to a third term in the U.S. House last November and has indicated she’ll seek reelection in 2026.
