Bearcat Volleyball Readies for Season Opener

clarksville-2-2

Last season the North Butler volleyball team finished with a 9-21 record. The team will look to improve that record as Head Coach Sarah Goodrich enters her third season as the Bearcats head coach. The team will have a different look as new players are filling new roles.

“Like I’ve been talking about with all of them, our team looks completely different than it has in past years,” Goodrich says. “And, just kind of focusing on the fact that just because it’s a new team doesn’t mean there’s any limitations. There’s new roles, and people are stepping up into those positions. And just because it looks like one day, might not be how it looks in future days and just doing what we can do, putting people in the places that we feel are best for that day and playing Bearcat volleyball.”

The Bearcats return sophomore Addison Ulrich after finishing last season with 68 kills. Seniors Zoey Thompson and Colby Wicks also return to the Bearcat lineup after finishing last season with 41 and 55 kills respectively. All three will play key roles in production this season.

“I think it’s gonna be a team effort. I think every day is gonna be a little different just depending on the defense we play, but we’re really relying on those two seniors on the outside along with Addie Ulrich in the middle. She is a returning sophomore for us, and, honestly, she is very aggressive in the front row, and that’s really kinda what we’re needing at this point in time.”

The Bearcats open the season on the road against Northwood-Kensett on Thursday.
