The city of Hampton and Public Works Director/Code Enforcement Officer Doug Tarr are reminding residents about the placement of signs, like garage sale and for-sale signs, in the city and state-right-of-way.
Tarr says signs need to be placed on the private property side of the sidewalk and not in the right-of-way, unless specifically permitted for temporary use.
He adds that signs in the right-of-way can be confiscated by the city for the safety of drivers and pedestrians.
