
Drivers across Iowa are seeing just a slight dip in gas prices this week. The statewide average for regular unleaded is $2.88 a gallon, down a penny from last week and a quarter lower than a year ago. That’s according to the Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship. Diesel prices ticked up two cents, now averaging $3.53 statewide, which is still 18 cents below the national average of $3.71.
Crude oil prices moved higher this week, with West Texas Intermediate closing at $63.93 a barrel and Brent crude at $67.81. Both are still well below where they were a year ago by an average of about $13 a barrel.
Locally, GasBuddy shows prices at about $2.87 in Clarksville, $2.89 in Hampton, and $2.95 in Cedar Falls. AAA reports the national gas price average is $3.21 a gallon.
